Yes, for most of the big apps. We opened the first episode of a series on the websites of twelve short drama apps. Nine played it in an ordinary web browser, without signing in. The other three websites are information or download pages with nothing to watch.

What changes is what happens after the free episodes, and that differs a lot between sites.

Which websites play episodes

We tested on 15 October 2026, opening one series on each site and checking that episode 1 actually played.

App Website Episode 1 plays in the browser
ReelShort reelshort.com Yes
DramaBox dramabox.com Yes
ShortMax shorttv.live Yes
GoodShort goodshort.com Yes
NetShort netshort.com Yes
FlexTV flextv.cc Yes
FlickReels flickreels.net Yes
MoboReels moboreels.com Yes
My Drama my-drama.com Yes
DramaWave mydramawave.com No, the site has no episodes
StardustTV stardusttv.cc No, the site has no episodes
PineDrama shortdrama.tiktok.com No, download page only

Two practical notes from testing:

  • Some players load slowly. DramaBox’s episode page showed a black box for several seconds before the video appeared. Give it a moment, or click the player once.
  • The video is usually still vertical. On eight of the nine sites, episode 1 came in the phone shape it was made in, so on a laptop it plays as a tall strip with space either side. The ShortMax series we opened happened to be in widescreen.

What happens after the free episodes

We also opened a later episode, past the free run, on three of the sites. They handle it in three different ways:

App A locked episode on the website
ReelShort Says it is a paid episode and lets you unlock it on the website
DramaBox Plays the first 15 seconds, then asks you to download the app
ShortMax Asks you to get the app to keep watching

So on ReelShort’s website you can go further than the free episodes without a phone. On DramaBox and ShortMax the website is a sampler: the free episodes play, and the rest is in the app. We did not test the locked episodes on the other six sites.

Watching on a TV

We did not test TV apps, so we cannot tell you which apps have one. What we can say:

  • The nine websites above work in any web browser, so a laptop connected to a TV, or a TV with its own browser, can show them.
  • Expect black bars. A vertical video on a widescreen TV fills about a third of the width; we explain why in what is a vertical drama.

Which to use

  1. ReelShort is the most complete website experience we found, because paid episodes can be unlocked there too.
  2. DramaBox and ShortMax are fine for the free episodes, but you will need the app for the rest.
  3. DramaWave, StardustTV and PineDrama are app-only. StardustTV does post long free uploads on YouTube, which a computer plays easily; see what is StardustTV.

If you would rather watch free complete stories on a big screen, YouTube is the other route; good short dramas lists the most watched full-length uploads on the apps’ own channels.

What this does and does not show

It shows that, on 15 October 2026, nine of twelve apps’ websites played their first episode in a browser, and how three of them handle locked episodes.

It does not show that every series behaves the same way. We tested one series per site. Websites change, and a series that is free on one day may not be on another. We did not sign in, so we cannot say how accounts carry over between the app and the website. Nothing on this page describes what anything costs.

What we measured

The websites of twelve short drama apps, opened in a desktop web browser on 15 October 2026 without signing in. On each site we opened episode 1 of one series and confirmed that the video loaded and its playback position moved forward. On ReelShort, DramaBox and ShortMax we also opened an episode beyond the free run and recorded what the page said.
